A rare day for a hailstorm

A rare day for a hailstorm
crackles, bangs
excited eyes,
a novelty for a crowd.
boughs wane
with sour contortions.

drifts fill window sills
with exquisite slush,
quickly sullied by displaced dirt.
muck and mud dilute
ice-blue pearls,
heaven’s gift to the earth.
